The Wall Along Wilshire Eastside Gallery West, recalls a stretch of the Berlin Wall made
famous by international artists who came to the city specifically to paint on it and will be on view October 17 through November 14 in front of 5900 Wilshire Boulevard. This new wall will be painted by the French-born, Berlin-based artist Thierry Noir, one of the first artists to paint on the Berlin Wall in 1984, and Kent Twitchell whose larger-than-life murals capture what makes L.A. culture so vibrant and renown throughout the world

The wall segments for this open-air street gallery are constructed by the Fresco School of a metal frame clad in Stauss Ziegelgewebe, a green-construction product donated from Austria consisting of brick mash and covered with plaster; each segment measures 11 feet in height and 3 feet in width;

Kent twitchell will paint two presidents - John Kennedy and Ronald Reigan. The Wall Project, a civic commemoration program and event which marks the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. In October, forty segments of the recreated Berlin Wall will be provided to select artists from Los Angeles and Berlin who will paint their creative response to the walls in our lives. Participating artists include Kent Twitchell, Shepard Fairey and Thierry Noir.

Albuquerque Fresco - Buon Fresco Painting

The Albuquerque Fresco by Ilia Anossov is a paradigm of a brilliant modern fresco. Its technique is on the Grande scale. Viewing it is reminiscent of watching a gigantic film, for this fresco incorporates not only cinematic techniques, and reminders of the most brilliant art, but also resounds of the painting of late modern artists with a flair for whimsy, like Jean Miro, and Paul Klee. At the same time there are images and techniques which evoke paintings of early masters.
It is as though the fresco artists have honed a living and breathing creature Fresco is public art rather than "elite" art. It is also a common effort of the artist, plasterer and others involved in the process. Frescoes created for all people to see and enjoy, and do not require extensive education to understand and analyze their significance. Granted there will always be scholars and art critics who take apart every art work, but frescos are made for the collective enjoyment. Frescos depict the most cherished cultural aspects of any civilization in their attitudes.
